One Shot Teaser: San Diego Comic Con– 1979

I still find it hard to believe that I made it to what I have been told was Marvel Comic’s first “official” presence at SDCC. At the time I had hardly attended comic conventions and so was unprepared for the deep dive into pro-viewing fandom…

Well, I was a comic pro! I was; I had pay stubs and book credits and everyone knew me.

But in hindsight– this was a very, very strange convention. There’s lots of details I will share in upcoming revelatory-filled stories. Some secrets must remain locked within my comic heart.

Above Virginia and John Romita– some time during the first afternoon. I have the con guide around here somewhere– a little different than what it has become these days– it’s a newspaper!

Okay– “Two Shot Tease” — Hard to resist this one. I was still in fearful awe of Glorious Leader and Editor In Chief, Jim Shooter back then. Not like today…

This was a time when you could really spend time with your heroes and potential bosses. And it was utterly amazing.
