If you heat up something on Earth, generally there is a consequence. When you conventionally generate electricity, huge amounts of waste heat are simply expended into the atmosphere. In fact that is what will ultimately cook us all: too much waste heat. So, get the electricity generators off the planet. The amount of energy that ideally reaches the ground is about 700 watts per square yard. That same square yard in ex-atomsphere space, nicely facing the sun, intercepts about 1,200. Build a nice big array of solar cells, beam the energy down to earth and convert it into house current and all at a pretty high rate of efficiency. There’s good reasons to invest in space from both the point of financial gain and humanitarianism.
