“Up top is a big WWI (and II) British service revolver, the Webley Mark II, shooting big .445 Mark II bullets. A funny, break-front hand- cannon, still in good shape. Below and left, shooting 9mm Bayard ammo is a Danish model 1910 Bergmann·Bayard; a military-issue that looks like a Mauser, but it’s not. The little guy to the right of it is Remington’s over/under Derringer, chambered in an obsolete .41 rimfire short cartridge. Its so short that this bullet travels at an unusually slow speed, about 400 feet per second, and though I wouIdn’t want to try catching one, I wouldn’t really want to shoot with one either. Next right, is the current Red Army miIitary-issue Makarov, which fires a very hot load, the 9mm Makarov cartridge. So hot, in fact, I wouIdn’t try putting it into any other gun.
At bottom is a neat Old Model Super Single Six which fires .22 Magnum rounds with great accuracy. Using all of this oddball shooting collection is a great way to maintain readiness in the event of a sudden party favor coming my way, and it’s fun too.”
